Eligibility Criteria

To sponsor your parents or grandparents, you must:

Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident: Only individuals who are either Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to sponsor their parents or grandparents.

Meet Minimum Income Requirements: Sponsors are required to demonstrate they have the financial means to support their family members. This includes meeting the minimum necessary income, which is assessed based on the number of family members and dependents. In most cases, it is LICO+30%.

Sponsorship Process

The sponsorship process involves the following key steps:

Submit the Interest to Sponsor Form:

The first step is to submit an online ‘Interest to Sponsor’ form during the designated intake period, typically announced annually.

Receive an Invitation to Apply:

If selected, you will receive an invitation to apply to sponsor your parents or grandparents. It is essential to respond promptly as there is a limited time to submit the complete application.

Submit the Application:

Once invited, submit a complete sponsorship application along with all required supporting documents. Incomplete applications may result in delays or rejection.

Processing of Application:

Immigration authorities will process the application, including reviewing your eligibility as a sponsor and assessing the admissibility of your parents or grandparents.

Decision and Arrival:

Upon approval, your parents or grandparents can make arrangements to travel to Canada and enjoy the benefits of family reunification.
