Spousal Sponsorship Requirements: A Commitment to Support
Sponsors must provide comprehensive financial support for the basic needs of the sponsored person and any dependent children. This commitment, outlined in an undertaking, covers various aspects, including housing, utility bills, food, personal hygiene products, clothing, daily essentials, and any uncovered medical expenses.

The sponsorship obligations commence upon signing the undertaking and extend for a period of three years from the day your partner receives permanent residency. Note that undertakings cannot be canceled or withdrawn after IRCC approval.

Income Requirements to Sponsor Your Spouse or Partner: Financial Preconditions
While specific income requirements do not exist, sponsors must demonstrate sufficient income and necessary assets to support their spouse upon arrival. Sponsorship during bankruptcy or while receiving government support (excluding disability benefits) is not possible.
